Any current offers for SKY HD upgrade

Been with Sky 8 years. Still have original box and single cabling. Last year i was offered free HD box, free installation and free HD for a year, but turned it down as i didnt have a HD television. Finally ready to switch. Got the flyer offering 30 install and free for 50 days. Not much of a discount - 30 on install and about 18 free viewing.

Is anyone aware of any better offers, or how to negotiate a better deal.

To get better than that they would have to pay you to take it. A new box fully installed for next to nothing really, if you count the free HD viewing.

      Thanks for the replies

Was wondering if the deals would get any better after Christmas, on the grounds that since everyone will be wanting it before christmas, there will be a lull afterwards

Does look a good deal (I have free box with self install offer), would not mind my Sky + becoming a spare as I had 3 boxes before getting a 5 year run without a problem.

Would I effectively have a spare working box (do not have multi room requirement) - would I retain the existing functioning card plus a new one with the HD?

Transfer of some saved recordings would be desirable, see there is a sticky, appreciate any current advice?

I am not 100% sure but I think you only get a card with the new box if you are taking multi room. Otherwise your existing card is paired to the new box. You can buy a 'freeview' card from Sky which would give you all the freesat channels, without paying for multi room, but you would not get the Sky+ functions of the box. You would need to pay to have these turned on, which I think costs about the same as multi room.
