      Sky Go Beta for Tablets

      Just a heads up folks:

Sky are due to launch a new Beta Trail shortly. It will be specifically for Android Tablets.

At the moment I do not know which specific devices will be included in the trial but I will ask you to keep an eye on the boards to know when the information is posted.

This is the link to the thread on the Sky forums: Sky Help Forum - Tablet Beta Trial - update - Help & Support from the Official Sky Forum

Based upon what happened with the previous Android beta trial, you will need to respond via a Private Message to a specified account on the Sky forums. The message will need to include your tablet details (make/model) and your relevant goggle account email address.

If accepted you will receive a PM & email. The email will have a link to allow you to add the beta group to your Android Develoment account (you can easily set this up from the link) and a link to download the app. From experience use you should use your tablet to access the links, not a PC. Once the account is setup you can use your tablet or a PC/laptop to access the board.

As always, if anyone gets in please respect any request to keep quiet about things outside the group. Do share any good and issues within the group. Knowing what does work is just as important as knowing what doesn't.

Edit: Invite no public, please see this post: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-g...tml#post422377

Well I hope the new Tesco Hudl will be supported from day 1, otherwise I'll be totally disgusted...

Re: Sky Go Beta for Tablets

As it has a port for a micro HDMI, I would think it is unlikely that it will be supported as this is the exact reason sky refuses to have sky go available on a Motorola Xoom.

They may well have a change of policy, I suppose, and in that case I look forward to viewing sky go on my Xoom.

I won't be holding my breath though!

Re: Sky Go Beta for Tablets

Certainly this was mentioned in that beta trial. I personally wouldn't be able to participate as I don't have a tablet.

I have just double checked and the notice hasn't been posted yet.

The old HDMI-out excuse has always been something of a red herring. Any device running Ice Cream Sandwich or later (and that's two years now and covers virtually every tablet) can easily have its HDMI output blocked from within the app. ISTR the Xoom was one of the last to update to Android 4.0 - so there is no technical reason why Sky Go wouldn't run on it. It's just Sky has committed itself to the incredibly limiting policy of supporting only devices they have testing individually.

Re: Sky Go Beta for Tablets

It would be nice to be able to watch Sky Go finally on my Xoom, but I cant imagine Sky will support that tablet.

So I'll just carry on using XBMC.

      Here is hoping though.

Re: Sky Go Beta for Tablets

Still no word then on the beta.
      But I see they have added this;
"The Sky Go team are currently testing the HTC One SV, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1, Xperia M and the LG G2 devices. Once testing is complete, we are aiming to add these devices to the whitelist in the next few weeks."
