How long has Sky Go on iPad been showing ads?

Watched Dark Knight Rises on my iPad via Sky Go on Friday and noticed it now plays an advert before it starts. How long has it been doing this? Never seen ads before.

OK it's only 1 advert but even so

The film certainly sucked away a big chunk of my 4G mobile data allowance as well using almost 2Gb!!

The irony was that the advert was for a M$ Tablet as well which I thought was quite amusing as a) I was watching it on an iPad and b) Sky Go isn't available on Windows tablets

I've just tried Dark Knight on my iPad and iPhone, using both WiFi and 3G, and no advert here. Maybe it's something to do with the 4G carrier?

I think playing adverts was introduced in the most recent version of the Sky Go app.

Sky have been targetting people with adverts on Sky Go for some time. It has been a gradual thing as many people do not see the ads.

I believe that the number of times that you see a specific ad will be limited too. One advertiser might ask to have an ad show 5 times, whilst another may ask for it to be shown 10 times.

4oD stuffs their CUTV and On Demand content with ads. I do not think that they use the same targetting systems.

Depends if it's an x86 or Arm based tablet, the X86 ones will be able to run silverlight, although not sure if the Atom ones actually have enough grunt to handle SkyGO, would probably work for the lower quality.
