Sky Go advert with David Beckham

Caught this the other day though the sound was muted (like I always do during adverts), but I'm 99% certain it said on the screen at the end 'Sky Sports HD' 'on the go'.

anyone else seen the advert and can confirm I didn't imagine it that they're now advertising Sports in HD as being available on sky go.

*edit* found the advert and this is what I saw.

I guess I interpreted it wrong, but maybe you can see why (though I hadn't noticed the '3D' bit which I guess gives it away).

Looking at what we have in reality, I'm think if Sky had chosen something better than Silverlight, we might have had software/gpu accelerated filters for sharpness etc, to make the current stream a bit better.

Yeah I noticed this also. You were not imagining it. However, I have no explanation because to the best of my knowledge Sky Go is an exclusively SD service.

I don't know what resolution Sky Go is streamed at but there appears to be a choice of low, medium, high and auto with a histogram icon to indicate the selected resolution. As the histogram has more than three columns I believe that in auto there are more than 3 resolutions available where the highest one is selected commensurate with the speed of the internet connection. As rendering is performed by silverlight I do not know how to check the actual resolutions or whether one of them is actually HD.

I believe that the resolution of Sky Go is device specific for the smart phones and tablets.

As for PCs & Laptops, I believe it is limited to SD quality only.

      PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.
