Sky Go on a Sony Xperia S

This is a discussion on Sky Go on a Sony Xperia S within the Sky Go forums, part of the Other Sky help and support category; I thought I'd try Sky Go on my new Xperia S running Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread) but I get "incompatible device" ...

I would have thought that this phone with the Bravia display would be ideal for Sky Go but it seems if it isn't an Apple it isn't a priority for Sky.
This must be one of the very few Apps that seems to be phone specific. Come on Sky get you finger out and get this sorted. Grrrr!!

Re: Sky Go on a Sony Xperia S

As of May this year, Sony Ericsson phones (android or not) make up less than 6% of the global market share. The phones do not present a large enough market for many apps, not just Sky Go. Whilst it is likely on the cards, Sony Ericsson phones just aren't a priority. Sky want to get to the largest possible market, and unfortunately that does not currently include SE.

I don't know what Sony's UK market share is but I do know this phone would be ideal for this App. It was supposed to be one of the phones that were going to be added so I guess I'll just have to wait on the next update and see if it is. Not everyone has/likes iphones.

It's the same old story. I've always had Sony Ericsson phones, I've got netflix, I player, itv player but sky go is a no no.
Just because a phone make is not as popular as others, it shouldn't mean they total disregard it.

Now online streaming is more popular on portable device, an industry expert was asked what online service would come out on top.

      His answer was.

The service that will come out on top is not the one with the best content, but the service that's available on the most devices.

      That says it all.

As you have all said the only reason sky has not allowed Sony's phones to work with Sky Go is market share, as we know sky go worked great on sky go until the 2nd of july update.
