BBC Iplayer will be coming to Windows Phone handsets "in weeks", a Nokia spokesperson has told The INQUIRER.

Although Nokia has not announced any details yet, the spokesperson told us that the app will tip up in the Windows Phone Marketplace within the next few weeks, enabling owners of Lumia handsets to catch up with Don't Tell The Bride on the move.

Speaking at the Nokia Lumia 610 launch in London on Thursday, the Nokia staffer said, "BBC Iplayer is expected to arrive on Windows Phone within the next few weeks, a sign that the Windows Phone Marketplace is attracting more developers."

However, the spoksperson added that Sky Go won't be coming to Windows Phone for at least "a good few months", which could be a blow to users looking to switch to Windows Phone. Nokia has yet to announce release dates for 4OD, ITV Player and 5 on Demand too.

Leila Martine, director of Windows Phone was also at the London event, and told attendees that the Windows Phone app Marketplace is growing at a faster pace than the app stores for Android and IOS. It's presently home to 85,000 applications, Martine said, and is growing at a rate of 100 a day.
