      Sky Player Problem

      Hi,
Like everyone else ever since Sky Player had an upgrade several months ago and the need to have your devices reset time and time again it's just getting to become a joke.
Any way on Thursday had a call from Sky CS about an email that I send about the bug and at last got to the bottom of the bug and what needs to be done to make the bug go away.
All you have to do is download and use the sky player desktop program, as they have sorted the bug out on that, They will not be doing anything to sort it out for WMC7 or watching in a browser. Well thank you very much sky but way don't you sort it out for all options? " Um well we want everyone to use our program and nothing else" and so if we want to use other options we will still have to have our devices registered all the time.
      So there you go

I thought that WMC7 issue was fixed? Certainly the last time I used it on my Laptop it worked. I'm on the other laptop at the moment so will need to check later.

      Re: Sky Player Problem

Could you double check that you have downloaded and installed all the M$ updates?

I realise that this issue arose after the SP1 update. There has been a few more updates released since then.

My delay in responding was to see if I could get it working once more. I don't have Sky sports, but I do have both the movie packs.

I got it to work successfully by streaming a recorded movie, watching Sky 1 live and watching the Sky Movie Premiere channel live.

On this Laptop I have Windows 7 Home Premium installed.

      Re: Sky Player Problem

I had the problem before SP1 came out, It started after the last upgrade of Sky Player.
Attached is a screenshot I've just taken, as you can see I've just logged in to watch the rugby again on Sports 1, I logged in first thing this morning and have watched 4 games so far and am on my 5th, As I'm also watching a local game on my TV from S4C (it's ok to shout at me my dad does lol) in HD. My delay was due to my grandson, I had to setup my laptop for him lol.
Since I've gone to FTTC I've been using sky player a lot and it's just a pain all the time.

      Re: Sky Player Problem

Glad to here it is working once more.

The other PCs listed are not going to be recognised again. I would be inclined to remove them from your list of accepted computers.

      Re: Sky Player Problem

Sky contacted me, because I was complaining about the fact that everytime I logged into Sky Player It thought I was using a different PC all the time ,so it was clocking up loads of devices. The problem was to do with Silverlight and CC Cleaner which I use.Every time I used CC Cleaner it wipped all the info clear from Silverlight. Solution was to un-tick Silverlight on CC Cleaner. Now all works fine.
I find now that Sky are very helpfull these days and will spend time helping you out on such issues.

      Re: Sky Player Problem

      HD,
I don't use CCleaner and the program I use is set to leave Silver Light alone. I'm not saying that sky are not helpful, I'm saying that they are aware of the problem but are doing nothing about it, I just checked on lots and lots of Forums and there a very very large number of people have this problem.
Come on you've got to be honest that it's a joke when you log in to watch something only to be told that you can only watch this on your main PC???????? and this is in fact the only PC you use.
There are a lot of unhappy people out here and some of them think that it's a con because every time you ring Sky it cost people money (not me). Before I changed ISP I could only watch in Low Quality but now I can watch in High Quality.
