Re: Sky Player - Attempt to view error

I am using a mac, so I do not have the option to download and install the skyplayer.

I have installed silverlight 3 according to the website and it seems to work fine on all other silverlight websites.

Unfortunately, whenever I load skyplayer with firefox 3.5.8, logged in as an administrator, I get the brief percentage swirly circle and then the 'MF1' error.

For some reason, when I go through the same process using Safari, the programme loads instantly and plays without interruption (although after an ad break, the player takes AGES to buffer from 0% to 100%- maybe 5-10 mins- before working fine again. It's weird how this happens after the ad breaks, but the 'first installment' of the show before the first ad break loads instantly).

It's really annoying because I generally do not use Safari to browse the web.

Is there any reason why is doesn't work on firefox? And why does it take so long to buffer after ad breaks, but not for the first section of the show before the first ad break?!

Do you have the adblock (or similar) plugin for Firefox? If so it could be blocking the ads which are played before the content. Disabling it on Watch TV Online | Sky Player should stop you getting the MF1 error in that case.

Re: Sky Player - Attempt to view error

Thanks. Tried disabling adblock for the site and it works for firefox fine now!

Strangely I don't experience the long 'buffering' time post-ad-breaks in firefox- it just loads instantly. The problem still occurs in safari. Not that it should matter any more!

Re: Sky Player - Attempt to view error

I had this MF1 problem as well. Thanks to the help on here, I found that one of the files I had previously edited to protect my PC from malware and parasites and any form of online advertising (very very useful) etc (hosts) was also blocking the video from playing.

Guess I'll just have to move it around every time I want to watch something

Thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else has changed their Hosts file one way or another.

Re: Sky Player - Attempt to view error

I simply registered to offer my solution to this annoying problem.

In the Silverlight settings, which you get by right clicking on the video) there is a setting to allow the automatic upgrade of codecs to play protected media. On my install it was not selected - selecting it and trying to play the video was followed by some downloads and the video playing.

Re: Sky Player - Attempt to view error

Having a similar problem, only started one week ago. Contacted 'help desk' took 20 mins to get through, suggest I remove both Silverlight and existing skyplayer software and reload- did not work. Any suggestions please.
