Using someone elses Skyplayer account ?

      Hi,
This is theory right now but wanted to check if it might be a problem. I currently have the Entertainment wtih sports pack at 39.50 plus mid broadband and skytalk anytime. So its over 50 per month. I am thinking of reducing this if possible, certainly for the sports to go and maybe to the minimum.

I tried Sky player on PC but didn't really find anything free making it worth while. For me the live sports is the key.

I have a friend who has the same package as me plus the movies and multi room. He has no interest in sky player and I don't even think he has accessed sky online.

Would it therefore be possible to set up skyplayer on my lap top but sign on using his account information and details so I could gain the benefit of live sports. At the moment its a service he is entitled to but does not use so I was wondering if Sky would mind if someone else were to use it?

Is there anything linking the skyplayer pc installation to a physical address or where the broadband is provided?

      Any help appreciated, thanks,

      Timmo

You can only have 1 installation of sky player per account and on only 1 computer. You cannot re -install it if you upgrade your PC either. As long as you have all of your friends details, you should be able to do it, but it will breach Skys T&C's.

Re: Using someone elses Skyplayer account ?

Thanks for the reply. I have previously changed which PC I had Skyplayer on but I did need to call them to reset the account.

So in theory its possible then. I'm not sure I'm going to try it but just want to check out the pros/cons. I understand the T&Cs could well be breached but I guess in its simplest form my friend could effectively register himself with his account on his laptop and then very graciously pass on ownership of said laptop to me.

Re: Using someone elses Skyplayer account ?

The whole idea of the Sky Player account etc - is that you are less likely to use or lend your details to watch it, as all your billing information is tagged along with it.

And also you could run up a huge bill watching payable content.

Unless it was a very good friend, I doubt very much that I would even lend my details out.

As long as it is on one PC - ie yours it should work. Also don't forget you can watch it live through a browser, without the restrictions of one PC at a time.

      Hi
can you explain a bit more on "Also don't forget you can watch it live through a browser".
Does that mean you don't even need to install skyplayer ? and is this still dependent on you having all the right packages (multi room/ max).

I thought it had to be via the player. I will have another look now.

Re: Using someone elses Skyplayer account ?

I looked a bit more, tried it out, got sky news via the brower under my account and then tried sky sports 1 and it said I need to upgrade. This might solve my problem as it will not tie you to one pc. So if I get mates sign on it should allow me to get to the sports. I will try it when I chat him up a bit more.

Re: Using someone elses Skyplayer account ?

Sky Player comes in two forms.

You can download the software and then download films / content to the PC (which then gets played through the software)

Or you can also just watch it live through your browser, ie Internet Explorer or Firefox.

      Here's the live one.

Re: Using someone elses Skyplayer account ?

Thanks for that. The channel listing for Sky Live TV (via browser) seems a bit limited but the main thing for me are the sports channels are there. The quality I've seen so far using sky news looks spot on.

      Thanks again.

I am in the same boat as well.I have just spoken to a very good friend who is willing to give me his username/password so that I can watch skysports online as he has never used it and never will due to him watching it on his tv.

I just want to know if it is possible and how did you get on with it Timmo?
