Not Impressed with Sky Player Overall

I've been using Sky Player since May 2008 and my overall impression is not a good one. The picture really isn't a good a good quality, and when I watched some football this afternoon I noticed that they had changed the format to 16:9 Widescreen, but the FPS was not 25 a it should be, but was averaging 20 FPS which led to stuttering and skipping of frames. It wasn't a speed issue, just a bloated, useless piece of software using dated codecs. Full screen quality is pretty awful.

I'd have thought a multi million pound company such as Sky would have devised something far better than the sub-standard product that is Sky Player. With a 650kbps stream the quality should be far far better. I can get superior quality free football streams that are far better than SP.

Sky should look at a free service such as TVCatchup - Never Miss A Show Again as an example.
