Yes you have to be connected to Sky Broadband to be able to send and receive via SMTP and POP respectively.

You have to use the Sky Broadband portal to get your email via other ISP connections.

I just find it odd, not that anyone knows my Sky Email address anyway mainly because of this problem, but it should work no matter where I am shouldn't it???

      Thanks fo any advice,

      Paul.
I am hopeful, when I am in the Med shortly (not literally IN the Med, but you know what I mean) that I will be able to log on and use Sky web mail. I use it occasionally now to familiarise myself with it rather than Outlook Express.

      Port settings in Outlook 2003,

Hi, I am looking to order Sky broadband but with the appauling level of assistance/waiting times at the customer services i am thinking twice! One thing i need to know is the SMTP outgoing port number to be used with Sky broadband, is it 25? I have my own domain and this is the only port they support so this is vital!

Your help would be much appreciated!

      Thanks, Nick.

Supposedly going over to Sky tomorrow and just spotted negative comments for Zone Alarm, which I use. Do you think this was the problem or was it just a question of unchecking "Log on using Secure Password Authentication"?

I stopped using Zonealarm about 5 years ago when I discovered it was corrupting TCP packets for my DC++ client downloads. So cant say.
However if you have secure password authentication enabled then Sky email will not work.

Like Ratti I stopped using it I now use Outpost and NOD32 I was finding that ZoneAlarm Security Suite was getting far to bulky and hogging to many system resources.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

Re: Outpost And Nod32, Have You Had To Amend Any Settings To Get Them To Run With Sky? Apart From Zone Alarm I Run "avg Free". Which Outpost Version Are You Using, The Free One Or Pro?
