Emails in trash being deleted
I have recently had a few issues where I needed to go look at a deleted email only to find it was no longer on the server. My Trash folder does not have anything older than about 2 months old. I use WLM client and IMAP and have checked the settings and cannot see anything that is deleting trash from the server.
I am sure this was not always the case, has there been a change ?

Re: Emails in trash being deleted
I did think that when you deleted an email it went into the Trash folder and then was subsequently completely deleted after a period. If you want to keep an email you don't delete it, you leave it in the Inbox or an Inbox sub-folder. After all, when you put something in a Trash bin you expect it to be taken away and disposed of. In Thunderbird the Trash hangs around until you empty the folder.

Re: Emails in trash being deleted
From memory I think the period for WLM is 5 or 7 days.
The same effect is true for the Spam / Junk Mail folder.

Re: Emails in trash being deleted
OK thanks for the replies folks. Yes it does seem to be deleted after a fixed period. I am sure earlier WLM didn't do this, and I am certain that OE had an option to keep mail on the server even if deleted from the client. But no matter. It's not a major issue, was just puzzled. Thanks.
