    How To Remove An Email Account Completely ??

      How To Remove An Email Account Completely ??

      I have 4 Sky email accounts and I want to remove one completely how would I do this ??

      A few customers, including myself have asked sky this question before.

      Basically, you can't.

      The only thing you can do is not log in for 6 months, at which point the account will close automatically.

      How To Remove An Email Account Completely ??

      If you call in they can disable it instantly but it will probably depend on who you speak to as not everyone has access to the tool used to do this.

      I never thought of phoning them about it & just trusted what i was told by sky on the official forum.

      There is an online procedure via the yahoo help pages that does work for yahoo mail users, but it will error out at some point for SKY yahoo mail users.

      My 6 month 'no log-in' countdown timer is about to end.

      How To Remove An Email Account Completely ??

      It is the same tool that is used to disable usernames that may be letting other non sky subscribers use the ID for sky go for free or for emails that are suspected of being the culprits of sending malware from a corrupt device.

      Can't the customer do this themselves from the primary ID?

      I was thinking about that too, but what if the email is linked to the primary ID?

      I was also thinking that setting up an "Auto respond message" might also help?

      Something to the effect of:

      STOP

      This account is no longer in use. Any messages will not be responded to.

      Please send any new messages to newaccount @ newserver.com .

      I put the word 'Stop' there so as to try to prevent future advertising messages, but this may not always work.

      As for including the email address, this might attract those unwanted spammers to your new account, but would at least give those who you forgot to notify about the change of email address.

      They can remove any secondary users from the primary ID so they are no longer linked meaning the secondary email then becomes a guest account.

      The now guest account can still be logged into but will not show any previous primary details i.e billing info however if you do select billing info you get the option to then link the guest email to an active Sky account by entering some account info which then gives all the previous access as before the ID was removed
