Re: Sky Email - Rejecting username and password
I had exactly the same problem trying to set-up Outlook 2003. I kept getting messages saying my username and password were being rejected.
After spending hours on the phone to Sky their Indian call centre were unable to help. One of the technicians told me they don't have computers in the office but read the instructions from manuals!!!
I managed to get it working myself though.
Assuming you are using Outlook 2003 where it asks for your user name you have to put your email address incluing the @sky.com part. It works perfectly for me now.

Re: Sky Email - Rejecting username and password
Just a quick word of advice to anyone who keeps getting password/username rejections on POP Clients and is also struggling with CAPTCHA.
When I unlocked my account with CAPTCHA it didn't accept my current or last password, but worked on my second-to-last one.
This worked for me once I thought of trying it; using old passwords isn't something that would, or even should, naturally spring to mind. Particularly when my current password works just fine for Sky's online service.
This was a bad changeover through and through, with no discernible benefits that could not have been otherwise acquired by independently setting up a G Mail account. Indeed, I would rather use that than Sky's hybrid interface.

Re: Sky Email - Rejecting username and password
This might be a long shot but try using Googlemail server instead:
pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com
If it still doesn't work then do you have a secondry username and password that you can try.

portal works, why not outlook? ... its strange and annoying.
both used to work (on the new google tools settings) but for a few weeks now, only the portal works.

Re: Sky Email - Rejecting username and password
Hi I have 3 mail accounts with sky, when sky made their changes recently 2 mail accounts work fine but one (the important one) does not.
3 weeks ago I got onto SKY technical and told them about my problem they said that there were problems and it would be fixed soon,
My problem is that I can log onto my sky account and use my user name and passwork and get on to my mail for my account but in outlook it constantly
tells me my username and password have been rejected which does not make sense as it is the same as the one I log onto my sky mail with.
I have checked my outlook several times and even Sky technical have talked me through the settings which I know are correct because they are the same
(exept the logon and password) as my two good working mail account.
I spoke to them last week and they told me it was because I changed my password recently and it will take a few days to register (sounds rubbish to me)
Still nothing works after a week so I phoned back and was once again talked through the outlook settings which they said were fine and my call was "escalated to a higher technical level and I was told somebody would call me back, that was 2 days ago.
Any ideas ?
I am not impressed with sky one little bit on top of that my router or sky keep dropping my connection regularly which is infuriating at times.
We came from NTL (not Virgin Media because their service was so bad but Sky is worse.
The following week they said the same, last week they

Re: Sky Email - Rejecting username and password
Since the changeover I've been having my username and password rejected (using Windows Live Mail on a vista machine). Phoned tech support today and it turned out it was down to me not having @sky.com after my username in the E-mail username field on the Tools | Accounts | Sky Account | Servers tab.
