Email on multiple devices, PC, iPhone & iPad - how, now there is no IMAP

      Hi guys

I used to before the yahoo switch over use Windows Live mail on my Windows 7 PC, but also access my emails on both my iPhone and iPad.
This worked great as emails sent from one device would show up in the other devices sent items etc.

Now I have to use POP3 for my PC and IMAP for others how can I make sure that all devices are sync'd.

Is there a solution yet, or will I have to use another email provider (Live, or icloud etc)

      Thanks

Make sure "leave a copy of messages on server" is enabled in Live Mail, although that won't sync sent items. Have you tried continuing to use IMAP? It still seems to work fine despite what they say.

I have the same setup as you, I still use IMAP it works, the only thing is apparently Yahoo don't support it.

      Hi, thanks for the reply.

I get several error dialog boxes pop up when I try and send / receive data.

I would go through the setup making sure you select the correct ports and servers and don't rely on the auto options. Certainly works O.K. for me.

Re: Email on multiple devices, PC, iPhone & iPad - how, now there is no IMAP

After all the stuff about no IMAP with Yahoo Mail, I have just tried the IMAP settings I already had for an old Yahoo mail account. Guess what .... works absolutely fine. Why has Sky wasted everyone's time asking us to change accounts to pop. Now all works on multiple devices incl my Nokia phone.

      Thanks both.
Any chance you could post a screen shot of your email settings, as I removed all my accounts from my email client and I can't find the old settings anywhere!

      Thanks

Re: Email on multiple devices, PC, iPhone & iPad - how, now there is no IMAP

If you are going to have to set it up from scratch might I suggest you try Thunderbird as in my testing it has seemed a lot more reliable than Live Mail.

Which ever you decide to use then the settings you require are:
IMAP Server: imap.tools.sky.com Port: 993 SSL: On SMTP Server: smtp.tools.sky.com Port: 465 SSL: On

These are screen shots from Thunderbird:Email on multiple devices, PC, iPhone & iPad - how, now there is no IMAP-account-settings-1.jpgEmail on multiple devices, PC, iPhone & iPad - how, now there is no IMAP-account-settings-2.jpgEmail on multiple devices, PC, iPhone & iPad - how, now there is no IMAP-account-settings-3.jpg

Re: Email on multiple devices, PC, iPhone & iPad - how, now there is no IMAP

Not sure if I maybe just made an error, but when I tried my old settings ie imap.tools.sky.com, it worked, but there were no emails after 3rd April ( the day of changeover ). However, I am using the following IMAP Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com Port: 993 SSL: On SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com Port: 465 SSL: On and it picks up all new mail. I have only changed one email account at the moment until I am ABSOLUTELY sure it will keep working.
