Password in Outlook Incorrect...Right in Webmail....Why?

      Hi all,

I know everyone is having issues but can someone help me with this.

I have transferred accross to yahoo and all 9 of my sky accounts have started to download thousands of messages. Why though does one of my accounts in Outlook tell me my password is wrong?

I know the password is right as I can log in to the webmail version. Can anyone help?

      Thanks

I had this at one point during the mad day.

Can I suggest that you close Outlook down and restart it?

If this doesn't work, try a reboot.

To stop the downloads close the mail program you are using and login to your online account and delete them from here first because you then will not have to download them.

It will be easier allowing outlook to download the emails and deleting them rather than sitting deleting the emails page by page in the webmail.

While you could do that there is the possibility that you could end up downloading them again if they are still on the Yahoo server even after they have downloaded.

Actually it is not that bad. You can do them 200 at a time and all it needs is a single click and a drag and drop. It was almost therapeutic.

Using mail2web.com there is no limit you can delete all messages at once using, "Delete all emails in this folder" link.

      OK thanks.

To be honest my real problem is the password.

Currently Outlook tells me my password is incorrect. I know it is correct and the same password works fine on the webmail.

Can anyone suggest why the password would be wrong in Outlook but right in the webmail. All my other sky email accounts are working fine.

Previously when this happened it was necessary to do a 'password unlock'. This worked when it was Gmail but I don't know if it still will. No harm in trying. You will find the unlock page here-
      https://www.google.com/a/sky.com/UnlockCaptcha

It is possible Yahoo have something similar, but I don't know where you would find it.

Re: Password in Outlook Incorrect...Right in Webmail....Why?

Yes there is a process to unlock a Yahoo! account.

I had to do one for a Yahoo! account of my own the other day. It can ask specific questions, use something similar to Captcha and/or send a text to your mobile.

I haven't tried to see what the process is with Sky Yahoo! Mail, but I would not be surprised if it were something similar.
