    Password in Outlook Incorrect...Right in Webmail....Why?

      Was advised to change my password by another user because synced emails (IMAP not POP) were being moved to yahoo trash folder. Now the password doesn't work in anything but webmail. Have changed the passwords in Outlook etc. Linked to OP problem? Found an unlock password feature yet?

      Over on the official sky forum there are lot of people with the same problem and their recommendation is to change the password (but it doesn't seem to work for some).
      This is the link for password change:

      lumoruk, as we know you broke yours by changing the password (sorry about that) but I suspect that the new password is not being passed to Yahoo correctly. If as I suspect the authentication for the web login is done on sky's servers but the authentication for the POP/SMTP on Yahoo's then maybe Yahoo still have the old one. Can you try using your old password in Outlook?

      Just by way of a test I have just changed my password and its all worked O.K. Both webmail and Outlook need the same new password. (no consolation to you guys I know).

      Now I'm going to try changing it back.

      O.K. I've changed it back and all went well, both Outlook and webmail are using the original password again.

      The strange thing is the acknowledgement email for each of the changes was picked up by Outlook but there is no sign of them online. The same thing happened when I verified an new address with the SMTP server. Weird (cue Twilight Zone music).


      lumoruk, how about changing your password back to its original.

      I've just remembered that when we changed to Google there were people who couldn't use client software to collect their mail because Sky had given Google the accounts original password and so anyone who had changed their password could only use webmail. Bet they have done it again.

      Hey guys, looks like there was a delay somewhere in changing the passwords on the yahoo servers. Was working on my phone first within 24 hours of changing password on webmail then got around to checking Outlook and all is fine now
