I do not believe the Ged and Glenn have any plans at present to withdraw this free service.
Obviously if Sky's broadband customers can now send emails via their own personal accounts without the use of the service, then I am sure that they will look into things.
Just now it is too soon to pass such comments and such a decision would affect a very large number of members.

Re: Yahoo better than Google?
That's good to hear - phew!
I've decided to stay with the Gmail platform (prefer it to Yahoo! mail) and have registered a new Gmail account.
I have now been able to register to send from myname@mydomain.co.uk using Gmail's webmail but don't know if I can use this with Outlook as this wasn't possible before (hence the Skyuser smtp server). This took some time to do as my domain email was linked to my Skoogle account and Gmail only allows a specific alternative e mail address to be linked to one account at a time. It was only after the switchover that Gmail would send the verification e mails to do this to my alternative account - I guess this was after my Skoogle account was switched off.
Hope that this background will help others that may be in a similar situation.

Re: Yahoo better than Google?
Sorry if sound a bit thick here, but does this now mean I am unable to get my e mails via G mail ? Have sky e mail address and used to go to G mail on phone. Since migrating over to Yahoo, this has stopped.
Is this the case or is there a way of still using sky email address via G mail ?

Re: Yahoo better than Google?
You can do this by setting up your Yahoo account to forward emails to your Gmail account. This is very easily done on Yahoo, but how well it will work, I don't know. The server seems to be down at the moment.

Re: Yahoo better than Google?
That is very unfair, none of this is of the users doing. They were happy on the gmail platform, and believe me they weren't to start with. If sky had gone to Yahoo back in '07 they would be just as happy with Yahoo. It is having the change forced on them and the fact that the two services work so differently when accessed by POP/IMAP that has caused all the heartache.

Re: Yahoo better than Google?
I have to agree 100% with you moleman. Changing services like this, in such a less than amateur way, and having it impact user so dramatically is unspeakably poor. Yahoo is a far inferior service in almost every respect. ( for those saying its great you can send emails as me@mydomian.com, whilst good, this is also completely possible in Gmail, and imo, far better implemented there. (If you think about it, if you can just send from @anydomain.com, people can do the same to you, if its too easy then the system breaks down and all email origins are untrustable, in Gmail, you have to prove you own the email or domain you wish to effectively spoof. Its not complicated or long winded)

So can we go back to there being nothing better about yahoo mail now!
