Genuine question... Why do so many people still use ISP email accounts rather than sign up directly with Google / Yahoo / Outlook etc.?

By default Yahoo downloads all the spam it detects to the inbox on your client.

You can change this behavior by loging on to the webmail and choosing "mail options" from the little sun icon in the top right hand corner.

Then choose Pop & Forwarding and from there you have 3 options for how it handles spam.

Google Mail does not automatically mark the messages with headings such as "Bulk" or "Spam". Yahoo! might have been able to run all the messages through their own spam filter, but this would have made things considerably longer to migrate the messages across.

I still have no e mails since the swap so how could it be longer? I wont be using the yahoo (dis)service. This has to be the worst example of how to transfer data there has ever been.

Is this the case when you use a browser to check you email?

Since POP3 doesn't really support folders the only other 2 options are

      1) Don't download it at all - In which case people who don't use webmail will moan when it blocks a legimtate email and they haven't noticed before the spam folder gets cleared.

      2) Tag it with SPAM in the subject line but let it through - Some systems do this so that you can set a rule client side to then move them into another folder.

Yes, I only ever check my e mails via a browser, and since the switch I've tried IE, Firefox and Chrome, none work, or via mobile/tablet.
