All I've found I can do is create a filter in Gmail to filter out old, unread messages and then delete them. So you can type something like this in the Gmail search box to filter out all the crap mail:

      label:unread before:2013/02/1

Well my phone will no longer be bleeping every few minutes.

I found that the Yahoo! mail was checking for new email far too frequently. It gave me no options to leave the messages on the server and as a direct result I've missed lots of messages to new posts.

Note that this is a criticism of the app, not Sky.

It gets even better now, I tried to send a test e mail to my account, and it bounced back from Yahoo saying that I don't have a valid Sky.com e mail address. Worrying

It looks like we are both experiencing some issues at the moment.

My Laptop is only receiving emails from my non-Sky email accounts.

I'll check to see what is happening, but it looks like these are some of the expected issues.

To update, I've now checked through all of our Sky Mail accounts, we have 5 and the other 4 are all working and transferred. It has to be the one I need that hasn't worked.

Well after keeping my mail boxs quite tidy over the years and spending quite some time a few months ago clearing out and deleting old emails, I have just set up pop settings on my desktop as requested by Sky but using the yahoo pop settings because the pop.tools.sky.com seems to be still pointing googlemail, my PC now seems to be in the process of downloading over 5000 emails, infact every email I ever recieved since I joined Sky in 2005. HOW ANNOYING IS THAT!!

Re: This Yahoo Mail is Total Crap

Initially I thought it was the Spam filter playing up but no; I have a habit of leaving my mail on the server. There were 78 messages marked as seen. I have not changed any of my POP settings but since switching my computer on this morning I now find 234 messages in my in box. That is three copies of each email left on the server. I have now flushed all the mail off the server and hopefully the problem will not recur but why should Sky Yahoo POP mail operate so differently from Sky's Google counterpart?

Re: This Yahoo Mail is Total Crap

This has been a total disaster for Sky. My problems so far, include:

      - Massive numbers of duplicate emails
      - All emails since Sat have "disappeared"
      - Large numbers of my legitimate emails have appeared in the Bulk Mail folder (no issues with Gmail's Junk mail folder)
      - I keep getting a terminated by server error message in Outlook 2013 every 15 mins
      - Outlook 2010 won't even load on another PC - it just hangs at the opening screen
      - I cannot get the emails to work on my iPad (previously were working fine) despite having identical settings on my iPhone

Despite being told that the problems would be fixed by 13:30 today, Sky have clearly bitten off more than they can chew with moving from Google Apps to Yahoo.

Re: This Yahoo Mail is Total Crap

      Someone kick me!

Thinking through things, I recognise the behaviour now.

I have more than one computer and my main desktop is set to download and remove the messages from my Yahoo! accounts. My laptops are set to leave them on the server. When I get my desktop to access the accounts, it downloads a filters the emails to their different folders, but they all come down as "unread".

Another issue I have seen in the past has been when I have had to rebuild my main Laptop on a previous couple of occasions. The result was that Yahoo! Mail saw it as a new computer and again allowed me to download all the emails on the server.

However I did not consider that for all those who had been using the IMAP settings that you would have this problem.

What I will highly recommend for all those who use clients is to set up some filters and folders. This would allow you to stuff emails from a specific friend or on a particular topic to be filed quickly and easily in different folders. I would also recommend that you include '[BULK]' in the filters so that any emails with that in the subject get placed in a "Possible Spam" folder.

I get various error messages when using IMAP on the PC:
