Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac set up
Hi
Is there an idiot's guide to setting up email on Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac? I've tried various combinations and permutations of ports and usernames but just seem to be getting error messages!
Thanks.

Re: Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac set up
The Outlook for Windows set-up guide seems to work with the Mac version of Outlook as well found here
The only thing I'd amend to those instructions is no (10) where it says enter your username. It needs you email address so it would be username@sky. com
I dont use Outlook 2011 on my Mac for email (I use the standard Mac Mail), but I've just tried setting it up and it works OK for me as IMAP.
Here's a screen capture of my Sky Email account settings page. When setting up IMAP you need to check the 'override default port' for both the incoming and outgoing servers to to change the port numbers. Just enter your own email addy and password.

Re: Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac set up
Thanks James.
Would the problem be that I'm trying to set it up as a POP account rather than an IMAP one. The reason is is that I use POP on all my Mac and iPad etc and for my Gmail account.

Re: Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac set up
It shouldn't make any difference. Just use the POP server settings instead of the IMAP ones.
Incoming server: pop.tools.sky.com (port 995) Use SSL
Outgoing server: smtp.tools.sky.com (port 465) Use SSL - which is the same as IMAP anyway.
Obviously though from April, these settings will need changing to the new Yahoo ones.

Re: Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac set up
The latest instructions for setting up Sky mail can be found here- Get emails on your computer or device | Sky Help
I don't think you will have to change when the mails switches, after all these settings work with Gmail. THere is no reason they should not work with Yahoo. It is only the few like me who have been too lazy to change back to Sky from Gmail who will now have to change. A few years ago the Sky mail servers were having troubles and it was found going direct to the Gmail servers worked 100% I have never bothered changing back.

As you can see from the above screen shot those instructions don't appear to work!

Do you get a Test button the 2011? If so what is the error? Alternately what error do you get when you try to send an email? Are you able to receive mail?

I take it you can sign into the Web mail with the username and password you are using?
If so, just as a test, try unticking the box for SSL in the SMTP server.
Are you able to receive any incoming mail?
