Well done! When you say "with a copy to Sky" do you mean that both the original email and a copy end up on Sky, or is it that the original remains on Sky and a copy is forwarded to Gmail?

Since both Gmail and Sky have virtually unlimited storage for emails (in real-world terms anyway), keeping copies on each system isn't a problem. Of course, Sky uses Gmail at the moment, so the copies aren't completely independent.

Let us know when you want to test the waters further.

      Hi Felix

Thanks again. Yes ready to put more than a toe in

Sorry I do mean original on Sky email and copy going to GMAIL.

I have now got most if not all of my labels set up in GMAIL and there were a few filters already set up but not many. I have also cleared the inbox on GMAIL.

I have got as far as looking at Mail Fetcher and I can see that I have to do something with POP3, it also says this

Gmail will populate sample settings, but we recommend checking with your other provider to learn the correct server name and port

I do not know what the server name and port is.

      Many thanks.

I do not know what the server name and port is.
As Sky at the moment use Gmail, I would just leave this to Gmail to sort. When the Sky mail is moves to Yahoo, it may be necessary to update the settings, but it will probably remain the same.

      Thanks again TomD.

I have tried to import my emails and I have got an error. It says Gmail could not identify your POP server. Please enter your POP server information below.

Already in the two boxes is my Sky email addy and pop.tools.sky.com at the side of this is Port 995 edit

I entered my password again and clicked continue then got

      Import options

Import Mail and add label to all imported mail were both checked in the add label my sky email addy was included.

I checked leave a copy of the retrieved message on the server

and left Archive the incoming message (skip the inbox)

      I then clicked Start Import

      I then got

      Error

This account cannot be imported at the moment. Please try again later.

I have done this several times it always ends up with Error.

Are you able to tell if I have done something wrong please?

Re: Help with downloading Sky emails to Outlook please

I can't see anything wrong there, but you could try importing into the Inbox rather than archiving.

Maybe I should have mentioned I don't actually use the Sky servers. I changed this years ago when the Sky servers were having a problem and have never changed it back. I go direct to the gmail server ie, pop.googlemail.com instead of pop.tools.sky.com, still port 995. Maybe you could try that if you are still having a problem.

Hi TomD and thanks again for your input.

Still not able to import my emails to GMAIL

I am a little unsure what you are doing but it made me think that I have neglected to say I view my emails on Sky I do not down load to my pc, do I need to something with POP3?

      Kind regards

You just have to ensure you have POP3 selected in the settings.
Enable POP3 on your Sky Email account

      1. Log into your Sky Email account.
      2. Click Settings at the top of any Sky Email page.
      3. Click Forwarding and POP tab in the orange Mail settings box.
      4. Select Enable POP
      5. Select Save Changes.

Thanks again, thought I should have done something like that - sorry for not giving full info. Off to try now.

      Thank you again, most kind.
