      moving from skymail to google

Hi, I'm not with sky any more, but liked the skymail as it seemed to work without problems and I then I left sky and was happy to find I could keep the email address. But now having left sky about 6 months ago, I found that it's changing to yahoo (and thinking who will sky switch to next and when) and it's quite likely that as an non sky customer I'll probably lose the right to use the sky.com email.

So even if I can still use the sky.com email I've decided to switch to gmail proper. How do I do this with thunderbird?

Do I set up a new gmail address and inform all my contacts and forward all sky.com mail to it until the switchover to sweep up any I missed?

      OK cool thanks.
So any more info on what happens to ex customer's email accounts?

Also I'm very envious of your upload!
And probably ping too, although I don't even know what that would mean to me. Actually is that the thing that makes youtube faster or slower? Youtube for me is slow with higher quality vids despite 100mb/s download.

Your problems with youtube are probably directly attributable to your ISP.
This has been an ongoing issue with VM for ages. Whether they try to cache youtube content on servers with insufficient capacity or do not invest in peering with a sufficient capacity no one really knows. In the meantime VM just bury their head in the sand and hope the issue will just go away.

Virgin Media are also not noted for low pings. They are noted for, in a lot of cases, sky high jitter which makes a lot of online games impossible.

As for the upload, maybe you should have stayed with Sky and waited for skyfibre to become available in your area.
