Sky email going to Yahoo questions

      Hi all

If I decide to say with Sky and use there Yahoo email service at change over will all my contacts retain the emails attached to them. I have always used labels and filters as I need to keep hundred of emails and it would be an enormous job to sort them all out again if all emails were just transferred to inbox and sent.

I have a Gmail account and this is partially set up like Sky but has nowhere near as many contacts and emails, is it possible to copy my Sky emails to Gmail in one sweep and would everything move into the correct contact folders.

I have so far not agreed to transfer to Yahoo if I do that now can I still move my emails to Gmail later.

Is it possible to use the Sky email addy with Gmail or must I let all my contacts know to send via my Gmail addy.

      Help is always appreciated.

      LL

Everything should be transferred across without any problems.

With Yahoo Mail you can also set up folders and rules, so there should be no issues.

Unfortunately until nearer the time we can not give you a 100% reliable answer as there will always be risks.

Are you using a client like Outlook or Thunderbird? If not you should, you can download all of your emails and contacts to it and you will always have it to hand no matter who the provider is. Thunderbird is fairly easy to set up and use.

Although I have Outlook (with Office) it's limitations in early versions put me off. Namely you could only have a limited number of space used for the messages. I don't know if this is still the case.

Thunderbird has been around for several years now and many have been happy with it.

There are many other email clients which should be able to pick up the contacts too.

      Thank you for replying.

I do have Outlook but an old version I think. Really liked Sky Mail, if I can download all my emails and contacts to Outlook is it not possible to transfer them to Google Mail?

Thanks Scubbie, I have relooked at Outlook which is part of Office and it has a problem, I have attached the error message but guess this is not the place to ask if anyone knows what it means but you never know SKS may just be able to help.

I don't know. If we don't know the answer, after a quick search, an answer can often be found...
