      Re: Sky Yahoo! Mail FAQ

It does seem odd that according to Sky IMAP wont work with Outlook but Yahoo does deffo. work using IMAP on a Mac and on iOS devices?

      According to Sky here:

I use desktop applications like Outlook to connect to my emails. Will I need to change my POP or IMAP settings?

POP and IMAP are used to download your emails so you can view them from more than one place. There are some differences between our old provider and Yahoo!, and one of these is how they support IMAP applications.

If you have Sky Email set up on your mobile phone, you won’t need to change a thing.

If you connect to your email through a desktop application (e.g. Outlook) and it's set to use IMAP, you may need to update your settings to use POP instead. You'll need to do this before April 2013 when we switch to Sky Yahoo! Mail or you'll no longer be able to sync or download your mailbox through your desktop application.

If you don't know whether your desktop application is running IMAP or POP you can check the account settings on your application to find out. If you're currently using IMAP, just follow the simple steps below to switch to POP.

To switch your settings to POP:

      1. Create a new Sky Email account using POP in your desktop application. See our POP email support page for help with this.

      2. Once you're happy that your POP account is working and all your Sky Email mails have been downloaded successfully, you can delete your IMAP account.
I can't test Yahoo using Windows/Outlook as I use Macs here.

      Re: Sky Yahoo! Mail FAQ

I have an old yahoo mail account. I only ever used it as webmail, but I tried setting up the account in Windows Live Mail with the IMAP settings given in this thread and it worked fine. Dowes this mean we will actually have IMAP after the migration, or is Sky actually going to block the use of IMAP ?

I don't understand this. I've been using Yahoo mail for several months now on my desktop PC with Outlook 2010 and also on my Android mobile. BOTH are configured to use IMAP and work perfectly well!

The only difference I can see is that Yahoo doesn't support Exchange.

      Re: Sky Yahoo! Mail FAQ

Yahoo Mail is utterly rubbish compared to other platforms, the spam protection is hopeless and the number of times Yahoo Mail goes down and/or wont let you log in online is laughable. I will not be using it as my main email service, therefore, I stick to my original comment #Skyfail

Just got the email from Sky.

No IMAP support for non-mobile platforms! Epic fail.

dog-man - the email from Sky does say they'll start migrating accounts in April 2013. I think they're just getting the information out early.

I've resurrected an old Yahoo mail account I stopped using years ago. OS X Mail on the Mac automatically setup the account as IMAP and it appears to work OK.

I hope Imap works on a PC and I also hope I will still be able to sync emails on my PC via outlook with my mobile.

As far as I can gather it will not work with a Windows desktop client such as Outlook, but it will with Mac Mail, which is a bit odd.
