Sky Email Changing from Google to Sky Yahoo! Mail

This is a discussion on Sky Email Changing from Google to Sky Yahoo! Mail within the Sky Email and Portal Log-in forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I can't believe they are downgrading to Yahoo. That probably means you won't be able to keep your @sky.com if ...

I can't believe they are downgrading to Yahoo. That probably means you won't be able to keep your @sky.com if you ever leave Sky.
I remember reading when I first signed up that a @sky.com can still be used even after you leave Sky. With BT & Yahoo you lose your @btinternet.com address after a few months of leaving.

Not even IMAP in this day & age with multiple devices. Such a backward step.

Re: Sky Email Changing from Google to Sky Yahoo! Mail

It only seems like 5 minutes since they changed the underlying provider TO Google! (In reality, it will actually be just over 5 years I think).

Luckily I only get Sky newsletters to the Sky e-mailbox, and I use a rule to forward those on to where I want them to go.

So glad I bought a domain name all those years (& former ISP providers) ago...

Re: Sky Email Changing from Google to Sky Yahoo! Mail

Certainly the ability to keep the email address is one of the many questions which we will need to have confirmed. In the message that Tom posted it does say that Sky email will no longer be covered by the Sky contract, but rather a new set of T&Cs. I already know that with BT's email you loose it soon after you cancel your BT broadband, unless you pay for it after the cancellation.

Other issues such as the settings required for your email client, calendar links, Yahoo! features, Google features and perhaps even the look and feel will need to be checked out too.

Please do post your questions though.

The FAQ has been updated Scubbie.

Ready for the shocker? If you don't agree to the T+C's for Sky Yahoo! Email, you lose all access to your current Sky Email as from April 2013

Could spell disaster for me & the other 0.00001% of people that use a console browser for e-mail.

The basic, HTML version of sky mail works perfectly on ps3.

Re: Sky Email Changing from Google to Sky Yahoo! Mail

Sky have already set up a FAQ for this which you can find here-
      https://my.sky.com/mysky/makethemost...-to-know-more/

I can't see the point of having IMAP on your phone when it is not available for the desktop client. I believe you can get a 3rd party application which allows you to use IMAP on any client, but it is not free. It looks like if you want to use it on a phone you will have to access the web page to view your mail on your PC/Laptop. Which I suppose will suit Yahoo, as they will be able to throw more adverts at you.

Re: Sky Email Changing from Google to Sky Yahoo! Mail

I have a Yahoo! Mail app on my phone. This can be set up to access multiple accounts. I am hoping that Sky's accounts will be accessible through the same application.

Re: Sky Email Changing from Google to Sky Yahoo! Mail

I hope they have imap. I access my main email account whilst on long shifts at work.

If they don't and there isn't a free alternative with imap, I shall be saying bye bye to sly at the earliest opportunity.
