      Google Chrome will not save Sky ID password

      Hi, Can anyone please help. I use Google Chrome as my browser and I used to be able to save my Sky ID password in chrome by entering my username and password and create an application short cut.
      This would then save my Sky ID and password every time. I can no longer do this ,I can only save my Sky ID username and not the password .

      However if I use Safari it will work every time saving username and password.

      Any ideas ?.

      Regards Dominic
      I have already posted this under the sky user email section,and have just realized my error. Apologies for any confusion.

      Re: Google Chrome will not save Sky ID password

      If it helps, I generally use IE9, but also use Firefox & Chrome occasionally and none of them keep the password for my Sky ID.

      I suspect that it has more to do with how the web page has been created as the SkyUser site doesn't like to keep my password either.

      Re: Google Chrome will not save Sky ID password

      Hi Bods,

      What's the problem?

      Add a bookmarklet with the script below, put it on your bookmark toolbar. When you want to log in just click the bookmark.

      --------------------
      javascript:
      (function(){
      document.getElementById("username").value="YOUR_US ER_NAME";
      document.getElementById("password").value="YOUR_PA SSWORD";
      })
      ();
      -----------------

      Of course it's not as secure as typing it in every time, but it should be OK unless your computer is stolen. But then that would be the least of your trouble.

      If you don't know what a bookmarklet is, some instructions for Chrome :-

      1/ Go to the Sky login page
      2/ Save this page as a favourite. ie Bookmark it. The Bookmark toolbar is probably best.
      3/ Now, right click the bookmark you have just made
      4/ Click edit in the options that come up
      5/ Paste the above script (everything between -----) into URL address space.
      6/ Change YOUR_USER... PASSWORD... to your actual details and press return.

      That's it

      Now when you go to Sky login. Just click the bookmark and it will fill in your user name and password.

      Re: Google Chrome will not save Sky ID password

      I don't have any problems with my username or password. Once I log in and tick the 'Remember me' box, I never need to log in again, except when carrying out a Mod function. Just tried it with Chrome, logged in, ticked box, closed down. Opened up again went to Skyuser, no need to log in. There was a fleeting bar appeared with Chrome asking it it was to remember the details. It disappeared before I could do anything.

      I would guess that it is something to do with Cookies, but what I don't know.

      If Chrome is set to delete cookies when it closes or starts up because it sounds like the one that has your password is being deleted hence the browser isn't remembering the password.

      Re: Google Chrome will not save Sky ID password

      Nope, it's not cookies. The cookies for password and username are set and remembered, never deleted. Sky's site sets autocomplete=off. This can be circumvented in other browsers. It is definitely something different in Chrome. I think it is the order that the code is executed. Using a debugger I can manually set the password field to autocomplete=on, but this of course, does not fill the field because that ship has sailed. Oh, hi George.

      My apologies, I mis-read the original thread and thought it was this site that was causing the difficulty. I can confirm that the Sky ID password is not retained on IE or Firefox either, so it is not peculiar to Chrome. You do not even get the option for the browser to remember the password as you do with most sign in pages.

      My Sky password is saved by Firefox, so with this browser it is most likely a cookie issue.

      Re: Google Chrome will not save Sky ID password

      Last post, Sky doesn't interest me. You all seem preoccupied with cookies - please tell me which cookie holds the Sky password. As far as I know it's not in a cookie. It is in 'Saved Passwords'. Similar, maybe, and when I have imported settings from Firefox=>Chrome tests give different results, but Chrome will still not fill the password field. George is happy with the script, hi George.

      If you use safari it will save your sky ID password. I can confirm that about a year ago Chrome did save the sky ID password
