IMAP - help!
I use Windows Live Mail on Windows 7 for my Sky email account.
Also have an iPhone running OS4.
Just switched from POP to IMAP. Can anyone point me to an easy to understand tutorial or explanation of IMAP? What I can't understand is why I have duplicate folders in WLM now, for example 2 Bin folders and one Deleted Items folder (what's the difference?) 2 Sent Mail folders, one of which contains mail sent from my iPhone and the other one, mail from the PC. A nightmare All Mail folder which downloads Spam mixed in with all my legit emails. I've hidden this folder but not sure that's the answer! Basically I'm having to slowly work this all out for myself because I can't find a good tutorial anywhere which explains the basic principles. Can I not have one custom folder tree which mirrors across webmail/PC and iPhone? That's what I thought IMAP was all about. Have endlessly looked around Sky webmail for help but don't find it useful or relevant.
Many thanks for any help!
PS spam is currently my biggest problem - when I was using POP the Sky/Googlemail spam filters worked brilliantly, and no spam ever made it to my PC. Now these filters don't seem to be working at all and all Spam (and there seems to be a lot more suddenly!) is being downloaded to my PC. Aaaaaggh!!
