Problems using e-mail client on master account.

Hello everyone i`m new here having just switched over from cable to sky and am having trouble receiving e-mails to a client from the master account.

When we first joined Sky the username given was not to my dads liking so i created another account with a more acceptable to him username (did this because the username ties in with the e-mail account name). Anyway i made this the primary account and received the e-mail confirming this by logging on via webmail. I also deleted the original account given by Sky.
After this i set up an e-mail account for myself and after reading through some very helpful guide posts have this account working fine on Windows Live Mail on Windows 7 (along with a Hotmail account).

Now the tricky part which i have spent most of the day trying to figure out but am getting nowhere so need some help

Basically my dad is using Windows XP SP3 and likes Outlook Express. I thought it wouldn`t be to much trouble to get his @sky.com email address working but i just keep getting login errors.

Things i`ve done. Set up a new account in Outlook Express using the details shown in the guide, i.e. enabled pop from the webmail (which i can log into fine) set the pop server as pop.tools.sky.com->Ticked the SSL box and made it port 995. Set up the smtp as smtp.tools.sky.com->Ticked the SSL box and made it port 465.

I just can`t see why the secondary email is working fine yet i can`t get the primary account one to work with Outlook Express, i even downloaded Thunderbird and tried with that but still no dice. It seems i`m not the only one who is struggling with this and i read somewhere about the account being synced.
Does anyone have any ideas on the best way forward?

      Cheers,
      Matt

p.s. If you need any error codes i`ll try again and get them for you.

Try putting your username without @sky.com and your password in this https://www.google.com/a/sky.com/UnlockCaptcha

Re: Problems using e-mail client on master account.

Tryed to reset the password, still no joy

If i try to use the Google unlock tool putting the username and password which iv`e just changed to (and can log into via webmail) it gives me a username and password don`t match!

One thing i have noticed after another try is it gets to the password bit and that just keeps on coming up. You have to either X it or cancel.
This make me think it`s something along the lines of a password authentication problem.

      Any more suggestions/ideas

      Much appreciated folks,
      Matt

Sometimes takes a while for the pop servers to catch up, when you do a password change on the web based screen.

Re: Problems using e-mail client on master account.

Sounds like the username needs synced. Call up sky on 08442 410515 and get through to the broadband technical team - ask them to sync the username via their 'google sync tool'. Literally takes a click of a button at sky's end. If it still isn't working after it is synced, then try the unlocking captcha phase once again, which should work after the sync is done. After that, try and send/receive and all should be good.

Re: Problems using e-mail client on master account.

Thanks folks, i think it`s a call to Sky, probably because we changed the primary account details...

The error details are Password rejected, username and password not accepted, Port 995, Secure (SSL) Yes, server error 0x800CCC90, Error number 0x800CCC92

Will let you know how it goes, probably be Monday know though as i`m of to Goodwood Festival of Speed tomorrow

      Tar again,
      Matt

Fire me the username in a PM and I can sync it up for you tomorrow morning if you want. Would save you a phone call!

Just to let everyone know the re-sync worked and all is now fine.

      Thanks to all, especially User05,

      Matt
