      Cannot send email

Up until yesterday I've been able to send and receive email using Outlook 2000 runing under XP. However I now cannot send any emails - I can still receive them OK. I've not made any changes at all to the config.

      Can someone help please?

      Re: Cannot send email

Outlook saves all it's data and settings in a PST file. If that has become corrupted that may be your problem. Personally I'd find the PST file and rename it then reopen Outlook 2000 which will cause it to generate a new PST file. If you can now send/receive then the problem was the old PST file. If it doesn't solve the problem then simply delete the newly created PST file and rename the old one to it's original name and you should be back to where you were.

      Re: Cannot send email

Details of settings under 'Accounts'. As I said I have not (knowlingly) changed these.

      Incoming server - POP3
      Incoming mail (POP3) - mail.btinternet.com
      Outgoing mail (SMTP) - mail.skyusermail.com
      Account name ...
      Password ....
      Server requires authentication - ticked
      Settings... - Logon using
      Account name ...
      Password ....
Logon using Secure Password Authentication - is NOT ticked

      Hope this is sufficient info.

      Re: Cannot send email

Have you set up your sky e mail on outlook? You need to login to your primary sky account on sky.com, go to inbox>mail settings>forwarding pop/imap> enable pop for all mail>save changes.

The incoming address for outlook is pop.tools.sky.com
      Outgoing is smtp.tools.sky.com

Set up your primary Sky e mail address in outlook, then add your BT e mail address on there. This should mean your e mails will be sent and recieved through sky servers. You don't need to use the sky e mail address if you prefer not to.

You also need to click the advanced tab in outlook and make sure your incoming port is set to 995 and outgoing to 465.

If you have any problems like repeated requests for passwords, call the Broadband tech dept and they will be able to make sure your mail is unlocked from the server and your password is synchronised.
