receiving the same email on two different computers

I have a desktop pc and a laptop. The laptop has a wireless internet connection. I would like to pick up the same incoming emails on both machines. At the moment the first machine that sends/recieves gets the email and the other doesn't. I've had a look online at possible solutions and checking the 'save email on the server' option in set up seems to be favourite and should work. I've done this, but it doesn't work. Does anyone know if Sky's email server doesn't allow emails to be saved in this way, or perhaps somebody could suggest other soutions?

      Thanks

Yes, you need to use IMAP not POP as the 'protocol' - see Setting up your email program. The server is imap.tools.sky.com.

      Easy Peasy

Change thr lap top email from pop to imap that will leave the mail on the server untill you access it from the desktop.

some mail clients also allow mail to be left on the server when using POP.

I use thunderbird and use this feature as a backup for my mail.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Re: receiving the same email on two different computers

POP will work as you require. I use several computers and have the email clients on all but the main computer set to 'leave email on the server'. So it will be visible on all machines until I view it on my main computer when it will be deleted from the server. After that it doesn't appear on the secondary machines. Works perfectly and doesn't mean you setting up IMAP accounts on all the machines.

Either POP or IMAP work fine so chose the method most suited to your circumstances.

Change tthe login name from "username@sky.com" to "recent:username@sky.com" and it will collect the new mail from the last 30 days even if it has already been downloaded by another client.

See "Using POP on mobile or multiple devices" here.
