      Incoming Sky email server fault?

Today I am not receiving all my incoming emails. 6 missing in the last hour, 1 other arrived.

      I use MailWasher & Outlook 2K7

I have a 1&1 bespoke email domain which simply forwards my incoming emails to my Sky email address AND mirrors them to a 3rd party email account.

The backup mirrored emails are arriving, but the sender (a VERY respectable email domain) is getting a 'Mail delivery failed, returning message to sender' email back with the message.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. The following addresses failed:

      <XXXXXXX@sky.com>

      domain name system error:
      host sky.com:
mail exchanger has no ip addresses

Have checked the Sky webmail portal, including 'All Mail' & 'Junk' folders. They aren't there. In the past I have also had occasional Sky domain emails not arrive.

Doubt the fault is either the senders server or 1&1's as the backup mirror emails are arriving

      Any suggestions?

      Me too.

e-mails sent form an e-mail address that I have had no problems receiving in the past two years, suddenly are not getting through. Nothing in junk.

I'm viewing from the web portal.

Is there a general issue with Sky's servers???

Re: Incoming Sky email server fault?

My sender was one used many times without issue.

Yesterday I emailed Sky about this.... No response yet.

Googling the problem, there are some suggestions that there is an IPV6 issue behind it all. I think this would explain the 'mail exchanger has no ip addresses'. I have not altered any of my IPV4 or 6 settings. Many of the Google results were in German. I'm guessing here, but I have often noticed 'moutng.kundenserver.de' within my email headers. Putting these two points together, is this where the problem lies?

I suspect this might be a major issue that is being suppressed somewhere in the email chain by whoever has altered their settings.

Most would not initially know that they are missing mail. But they soon would, in large numbers....

As far as I can detect, I haven't lost any mail today. However none of the missing mail has arrived.

Re: Incoming Sky email server fault?

Sky Technical have a real speedy turn around to service failure emails.

I emailed them on the 23rd.... & they responded on the 27th! (None of the lost emails have ever appeared.)

It seems Sky knew their email server has suffered a failure, but didn't announce it generally.
Note that the fault persists & email delivery may still be failing.

Actual response from Sky Help Centre

Sorry for the delay in replying to your message.

Our Sky Broadband Email Server suffered a failure on 22nd and has been affecting users intermittently since then, which would be the cause of your problems accessing emails.

I apologise for the inconvenience this failure has caused. Our engineers are currently working on this matter with the upmost urgency and we hope to have the service restored in the near future which will allow you to access your emails again.

If you continue to have difficulties accessing your emails after a few days then please reply with details of the error message you receive and we will look into this further.

We would recommend you include an alternative email address, we can write back to you on.

I hope this helps with your enquiry.

Re: Incoming Sky email server fault?

I am still losing about one email in twenty.
Even bland emails like read receipts & 'out of office' messages are failing to be received.
(All my incoming mail is mirrored to a 'non-Sky' email account so I know instantly. Have also checked the web mail portal to confirm the problem.)

The Sky email service is not to be relied upon.

all fine here, using the Sky email server addresses but also fine with the Google ones...

possibly something to do with that phishing scam going about perhaps??...
