Can't send email from Sky accounts
I have been using Outlook Express with Sky for 18 months now, and three days ago, outgoing mail for all of my user names fails (Incoming mail fine) with the error message.
(Personal data replaced with XXXXX by the way)
The server does not support a SSL connection. Account: 'XXXXXX', Server: 'smtp.tools.sky.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 PIPELINING', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D
I unchecked the SSL option, and now get the error
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'XXXXXX@sky.com'. Subject 'XXXXXXXXXXX', Account: 'XXXXXX', Server: 'smtp.tools.sky.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. 7sm190775eyg.17', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78
I have changed nothing. I can send mail directly from the Sky website, and from OE if using my Yahoo mail account.
Anyone have any advice to offer?
Cheers

Re: Can't send email from Sky accounts
Could be due to the issues Sky were having the other day.

Re: Can't send email from Sky accounts
I suspect this may be the case as the fault has "suddenly" appeared and I have double checked all my settings, however, it still remains after at least three days.

Re: Can't send email from my Sky accounts
I've found the solution.
After checking the mail settings with the document
Sky email settings.pdf
It turns out I have been using port 25 for outgoingmail for either a long time, or it has just changed itself for all three of my accounts.
Strange.......

Re: Can't send email from Sky accounts
I received this email from Sky today (07/07/09 at 05:45).
"Thank you for contacting Sky Help Centre.
Our Sky Broadband Email Server suffered a failure on 02/07/09 which is still ongoing and this will be the cause of your problems accessing emails. This is now affecting other areas of the Sky website and although you may gain access to the site or emails you may still experience some user problems whilst we resolve this issue.
I apologise for the inconvenience this failure has caused.
We aim to have this issue resolved as soon as possible and your patience whilst this is ongoing is appreciated."
After thoroughly testing all my user accounts, it appears three are sending mail fine, whilst my primary name still returns an error.
An unknown error has occurred. Subject 't', Account: 'XXXXXXX', Server: 'smtp.tools.sky.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0B
Well, at least something works.
