How do I save my emails in a folder?

      Hello,
I would like to save certain emails in a Label. But when I put them in a Label and go to delete them off my Inbox they also get deleted from the label as well!!!
Is there any way of just deleting it from my Inbox but leaving it in the label?
Hope this makes sence and hopefully somebody will have the answer

      Cheers

      John

To be offered any help I think you need to say which email program and email supplier you are using.

It looks like you are saving shortcuts to the email rather than the actual email. Can you give a bit more info? Are you using the Web interface to open/view your mail or Outlook or O/Express.

Thanks for your help. I am just logging into my Sky email account and looking at the emails from there and trying to save them from there.
I am not using Outlook or Outlook express!

Re: How do I save my emails in a folder?

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but there is no straight forward way to save messages from Web mail, into a text document. The easiest way to get a copy on your hard drive is to use an email client like Outlook to download them.

There is another way which does work and you can try it if you like. This involves using a virtual printer to save the message to a PDF or MS Document Imager to save it as a .TIF. If you want to try this, open the message you want to save and click the print icon on your browser. When the Printer pane opens, use the drop down box to select either the PDF or MSDI and click OK. Save the result to the folder of your choice. It should be noted this saves the full page, not just the message.

Later versions of MS Office include MSDI. If you do not have a PDF creator, you can download a free one from-
      SourceForge.net: PDFCreator
Just install it and you will find a new PDF printer in your printer list. It is a useful tool apart from the above use.

Re: How do I save my emails in a folder?

I think you may all be missing the OP's point, if you use eg: outlook or outlook express you can create sub folders from inbox, and move your e-mails into that folder. I have about 6 school etc if you are using the web mail service you can create a label, and copy an e-mail into that label, however this still leaves the e-mail in your in box. What the OP wants to do, and I would also find it helpful, as I use several different pcs, is to be able to move the e-mails into the selected folder, thus removing it from inbox. It must be possible, but I also haven't yet found out how.

If you want to "hide" the emails from the inbox area but not delete them all you need to do is select the email and archive it after it has been labelled.

Yes you are correct, I completely misunderstood the query My only excuse is that I use Outlook and only use web mail for throwaway addresses, so I have never used 'labels'.
