    problem with outlook express

      problem with outlook express

      my sky email was working fine with outlook until Monday when suddenly I keep getting asked for my password/user name and told it is invalid. I have tried unlock which tells me user name and password do not agree and have checked my pop/smpt settings. The only thing that has happened is a power cut some time before the problem started - could this be why?
      Have read previous threads about outlook problems and tried all suggestions - don't know what else to do. Is it worth changing sky password and then change in outlook? If so how do I change it in sky mail?

      Go to sky.com, click on Sign in link (blue letters underneath sky.com in black bar, if you are already showing signed in you need to sign out).
      Once on the user name and password page click on forgotten my password, you will be asked your user name at which point it will tell you it has emailed a link for reset. Ignore this as on this page there is a link that says something along the lines of "have no access to email, reset here". Click this link and follow the instructions.
      Once changed on this site you can then change it on outlook express to match.

      tried changing password in sky and outlook but it has not solved the problem. Any other ideas please?

      Is Unlock still saying user name and password do not match? You cannot run unlock with Outlook express open so make sure that is closed. Also when you went through the password reset procedure did it say it had been completed successfully.

      No probs, Outlook etc have to be closed or they are actively attempting to connect while Unlock is trying to reset access on the server. Glad its working now.
