Spam straight to Bin
Hi Guys
New to the forum so be kind
Is there a way to my spam to go straight into the bin rather than the spam folder.
I seem to be getting more and more spam which I just delete any way.
Thanks
Marcus

Re: Spam straight to Bin
What anti-spam/internet security package your using and what operating system do you use as the settings for each will be different.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Re: Spam straight to Bin
If you are talking about the Sky Web Mail, it automatically gets deleted after 30 days, so no need to keep deleting it, Also you should never make any settings that would delete instead of using a Spam Folder, because not everything that goes in there is always SPAM, Spam filters do suffer from False Positives occaisionally.
You should also look into the reason behind receiving lots of SPAM, usually down to advertising your email address on dubious websites, forums etc.Bob

Re: Spam straight to Bin
There is a simple way to send spam straight to your waste bin.
Log in to your mail account and click on 'settings', then click on 'filters'
Scroll to the bottom and click on 'create new filter'
In the box 'Has the words' type is:spam
Click on 'next step' you will get a warning message, just click OK.
On the next screen check 'skip the inbox' and 'Delete it' boxes.
Then create filter.

Re: Spam straight to Bin
There are only three people that know what my Sky address is and they are all family and I get a fair bit of spam which does go right into my spam folder. I have never advertised my address anywhere, infact I don't even use it to send mail. My Gmail address gets far less spam that my Sky one.
Spammers will 'guess' email addresses in the hope that will get lucky so it isn't always done to people "advertising" their addresses on "dubious websites".

Re: Spam straight to Bin
Hi Guys
Thanks for the advice.
I guess you might be right about not deleting all the spam but I've not had one yet that I wanted to Keep.
The problem is when I see I have messages in there I still have to just check.
I don't get huge volumes of spam. maybe between 5 and 10 in a day and I'm very carful about using this address. I still have an old BT one I use to register with any sight im not 100% sure of.
I might try putting "spam" in the filter to see if that works, I've always got access to the bin just in case.
Thanks again
Marcus

Re: Spam straight to Bin
My sky email address is only used by SKY and I've never had any spam whatsoever through it.
But the address I use the most when on the web, used to get loads of spam, but even that has dropped off dramatically since they closed down the site that was selling lists (can't remember it's name)Bob
