configuring thunderbird email
hi to you all from a new member.
i have tried to configure thunderbird using my sky email settings. it works with outlook express but not thunderbird. am i doing something wrong ???.
incoming mail server pop.tools.sky.com port 995
outgoing mail (SMTP) server smtp.ttools.sky.com port 465
use SSL. use Authentication.

well, not smtp.ttools.sky.com...
should be smtp.tools.sky.com-------------------------------------------

Try -
incoming mail server pop.googlemail.com port 995
outgoing mail (SMTP) server smtp.googlemail.com port 465
Tick boxes for SSL
Post the error you get if this does not work, as there may be a clue in it.

used settings you suggested got error message.
an error occurred while sending mail.
the mail server responded. 5.5.1 Authentication Required.

hi isitime,
still no joy.
changed the port settings tried TLS no good every thing i try brings up a different error message. went to your link. imported the settings from outlook express like it suggested but it still does not work. also it will not except my sky email password.

I can guarantee Thunderbird works as I've set it up before with my sky account and works fine...

All I can suggest is that you go to your Sky page and change your password. I am not sure if this takes immediate effect, or whether it takes some time for the change to activate. Maybe someone will say yea or nay.
