      [IMPORTANT] Your mailbox is full

      Hi

      We keep getting an e-mail with the message [IMPORTANT] Your mailbox is full and it tells the following details and to empty our inbox, sent, trash/deleted mails:
      Details:
      Quota Type: bytes in the mailbox
      Quota Available: 7770
      Total Quota: 31457280

      We only have a couple of messages in our inbox (small messages, no attachments). We have checked how much space we have used and it tells us 256mb of our 10240mb allowance.

      We have our e-mail set up in Outlook (IMAP) and send and receive messages with no problem until recently when we receive the above message after every e-mail we receive!!

      One point is that we have to login twice on our Outlook account each time we open Outlook and all messages are duplicated into GMail - All Mail as well as our Inbox. We file our messages in the Outlook Inbox folders to keep them separate from Sky e-mail.

      All our messages on Sky e-mail instantly go into GMail - All Mail and we have no option to Archive.

      Having called Sky Technical Help we were at a complete loss as we knew more than they did! The woman was rude and very unhelpful, hopefully some kind soul on this forum should be able to assist...please.

      Does the email ask for your details? If so, it may be a phishing scam, I have been advised that this type of email is doing the rounds by a friend in Canada. Can you check the headers of the email to see where it is coming from?

      It might be a junk email, where does it supposedly come from ?

      Thanks for your replies.

      The e-mail shows no personal level indicators which implies it was sent to a mailing list.

      The header "from" address is just "admin" and there is no "to" address". We have received the same message 5 times again today.

      Totally baffled and further ideas/answers would be really great.

      Did you right click the email in the Inbox pane and select Option. This should show you where it came from. If it is phishing or spam, this will probably be disguised but it will maybe give you an idea whether it came from Sky or not.

      Based on this I would say it was spam.

      I'm getting this too. Sometimes 10-15 times a day. The time stamp is mostly in the early hours - at approx 10 minutes intervals. At othewr times I don't get the message and the mail box is OK.

      I'm pretty sure this is just a way of spammer to get you to click on the link to see your 'unreceived' email. I've never had a normally email 'blocked' with this.

      But i have no idea how to stop it.

      Mark the email as Junk and have sent straight to the Junk folder, that is about all you can do.

      You could also create a filter which will stop them getting to your inbox.
