Re: Sky Mail and Gmail down?
I disagree, there are no problems with leaving them with the Gamil ones infact as there as there seems to be quite a few issues just lately with Sky's own servers it would save a bit hassle having to change them again.

Re: Sky Mail and Gmail down?
I do agree Alan, but the last thing we want is for that person to get any grief off Sky for us telling him to keep them as what they are now, if that makes sense. Just covering our backs

My Windows mail just stop working, it says: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Server: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F Does any one know why?

Re: Sky Mail and Gmail down?
Well first of all , Thanks for the tip in resetting the pop and smtp to googlemail. Did this and i received emails ok.
HOWEVER......... During the day i have been popping onto outlook now and then and noticed that when i was receiving incoming mail the status woud be ...receiving 1 of 7 emails, yet only 4 dropped into my outlook box, when i opened up my sky.com email i had all 7 in the inbox, this has happened 5 times today, the senders all had various servers, ie. gmail, nhs. hotmail, and even the registration email from this site.. So i will be reverting back to sky.tools etc etc when the problem is fixed as it appears only certain emails get sent via outlook.

Re: Sky Mail and Gmail down?
In case this drags on for ages in which case I will change my OE settings to those suggested in this forum, could somone give a definitive answer as to whether it will be necessary to change them back afterwards, and whether this might cause more problems in the long run? Cheers. Helen

Re: Sky Mail and Gmail down?
Hi. Tried changing my settings to pop.googlemail.com / smtp.googlemail.com but am being asked for username/password. Does it need a different username/password pair than sky ? Help required for a frustrated sky email user !

Re: Sky Mail and Gmail down?
Hello, two reasons to say thank you - first for the Skyuser SMTP service (sorry, NewsreadeR, I'm a bit late) and second for the googlemail workaround. Both of which are working perfectly. This forum is invaluable to me in solving problems. The official technical help centre had less than zero helpful information today and was, on this occasion at least, as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Shame on Sky. Some of us depend on Sky for a lot and the skyuser forum is the only way to get proper information when we need it. Cheers and cheers again.
