You need to fill in the same username and password for the SMTP server.

Hurrah!
I've updated my iPod touch to software version 2.2 this weekend and I notice that you can define alternative SMTP servers which I think it will try and use if it cannot use your primary SMTP server.
Could be useful if you are not at home and you want to send/receive e-mail via a free public wi-fi hotspot such as The Cloud at McDonalds (the touch always works well there!)++ speedyrite ... powered by NOW Broadband from June 2018 ++
