Sending Email via own Website Address
Hi All,
I hope someone can help. I have my own website and I have been trying to send an email using my email address for my website via Outlook Express but using the SMTP details for Sky; as this is what the instructions are from my website provider.
I keep getting an error message: -
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.familymcdermott.co.uk', Server: 'smtp.tools.sky.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 225, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
My website provider says it's an issue with my ISP's smtp.
Can anyone help, please?
Mis

Re: Sending Email via own Website Address
yep, wrong port, but you wont be able to send from your own domain on the Sky SMTP server anyway, it changes the reply-to address to your sky.com address.
You'll need to use another SMTP server, one that allows 3rd party traffic, or one specific for your domain

Its not 225. The Sky SMTP port is 465 for SMTP with SSL.

Re: Sending Email via own Website Address
Quite. Apply for a SkyUser SMTP account. It's free and always works! Just use the SkyUser SMTP for the 'Send' option of your email client. I do.
