outlook 2007 problems receiving orange email
I recently switched from orange to sky broadband, however I am going to continue to use my orange email address through office outlook 2007. I can receive emails ok but I cannot send any...does this have something to do with the POP3 and SMTP settings (as they are still as orange)? If so, does anyone know what I should change them to so I can receive emails?

Re: outlook 2007 problems receiving orange email
You have to send via the sky smtp server, you can receive from any POP server as long as the account is still active. All you need to do is go into the account settings, tell it to use the server smtp.tools.sky.com and then ssl port 465 (trying to remember off top of my head here lol so you may need to check that number) and there should be tick box in one of the account properties screen about using same credentials for pop and smtp. Untick that and give the correct user name and password for you smtp server on sky.

Re: outlook 2007 problems receiving orange email
I was with Orange and I use Outlook 2007. Having signed up to Sky Broadband, I find I can still receive emails - but not send them - if I leave the settings as they are and I can send them - but not receive them - if I change to sky settings, including unlocking them etc.
I have spent many hours on the phone to sky and trawling various forms without getting a solution to this problem that is highly unsatisfactory.
If anyone can help, I would be very grateful.

Re: outlook 2007 problems receiving orange email
To allow this you will have to apply for a Skyuser SMTP account - See here-

Re: outlook 2007 problems receiving orange email
Thanks, but I eventually solved the problem by adding my orange email account via the sky homepage. If anyone wants details of how to do this, let me know.

Re: outlook 2007 problems receiving orange email
It would probably be useful to many if you could say how you did it.
I think the emails you send may still be shown as being sent by Sky email.

Re: outlook 2007 problems receiving orange email
Go to sky email webpage and click on accounts, then on add an email account you own, fill in the details of the server etc. and, hey presto, it works.
The mails I send show my sky email address on behalf of my usual email address.
