Help with deleted emails
Hiya,
After several abortive attempts, I finally managed to get my SKY email account to sync with Outlook (in Vista). However, I had so much junk and old emails stored in Sky that I started to delete unwanted stuff to speed up the process of downloading it all into Outlook.
But THEN, I accidently deleted everything within the file marked "ALL MAIL" within Sky and of course I've lost everything. I no longer have any emails in either SKY or OUTLOOK - I don't suppose anyone knows of any way that I can get them back????
I tried the helpline but they didn't seem to know for sure?
Many thanks,
Debbie

Re: Help with deleted emails
Have you looked in the Bin folder? Anything deleted should lurk in there for upto 30 days unless you empty the bin or delete messages forever (which can only be done from the bin). Not quite sure how you managed to delete everything from your all mail folder with one click. When I try that I have to select all messages and press delete but that will only get rid of one page at a time.
Is it possible that you are using POP and have set outlook to delete the copy which resides on the server after it has been saved in outlook?

Re: Help with deleted emails
If you did it on the email and tools page then there is a bin/ deleted items folder that they may well be in. They stay there till manually cleared out as stated above, if they are gone from the bin folder you have lost them permanently.
@ Ratcliffe:
It is actually possible to one/ 2 click delete everything these days, if you click the "All Mail" link on the left of the page it brings up the list as normal but now there is also a link at the top saying "Select all X conversations in All Mail". Using that link you can in theory empty the entire system out. It will however just dump it all in the Bin folder (listed on the left of the page in the column that "Inbox" is at the top of. Hopefully this is where they are all hiding, if not.....Last edited by PaulSky; 25-10-08 at 10:12 AM.

Thanks for your help.......unfortunately it deleted EVERYTHING, including the BIN!!!
I've learnt a hard lesson - act, archive and delete next time!!
Thanks again,

Re: Help with deleted emails
with the google mail service offering so much space don't be in any rush to remove things from the server. You should have enough space there to mean not having to remove anything unless you are really sure you don't want it. Use the "Label" system to archive emails from the main inbox view and then things will be less cluttered in the inbox itself. Keep a check on the spam filter and you should find things easier once you are used to it all.

This thread is nearly three years old. A lot has happened since then.
