      Sky Outgoing POP email - Outlook 2007

      After searching various posts a few weeks ago, I managed to get the correct POP Settings for Sky.

      Tonight however email is just sitting in the Outbox.

      Anyone else having issues?

      Can someone please test sending an email from Outlook, if it works can you post your settings?

      These are my settings

      Require a logon using Secure Password Authentication

      Outgoing Server Tab
      Ticked: My outgoing server (SMTP) requires Authentication
      Log on using:
      <MyEmailAddress>
      <Password>

      Ticked:Require Secure PAssword Authentication

      Advanced Tab

      Incoming server POP3 995
      Ticked:SSL

      Outgoing server (SMTP) 445
      Use the following type of encrypted conenction: SSL

      Edit:

      I just tried the "Test Account Settings" This worked fine. yet when I send an email from that account it doesn't send it.

      Thanks

      Andrew

      It's all working now. Very Odd, I disabled POP and then re-enabled it.

      Re: Sky Outgoing POP email - Outlook 2007

      May be a silly point, but Outlook doesn't actually send mail when you click Send on the New Message form - it just puts it in the Outbox. You have to either close Outlook or click on the Send/Receive button on the main menu to send it.

      unless you have it set to send email immediately (which it does by default)...

      Re: Sky Outgoing POP email - Outlook 2007

      Sorry if that was not helpful. That's not the default in 2003; default is to send/receive every 3 mins. Don't have 2007 installed - took it off because I don't like it - so it may be different.

      Re: Sky Outgoing POP email - Outlook 2007

      it's an option which is set to send immediately if connected in Outlook 2003/2007 (currently running 2007 but was the same). what you're thinking of is checking for email - which is by default set to 2/3 minutes (can't remember off the top of my head) which will also send any unsent mail...it should nromally go out as soon as you press send though...if not, you've turned off such feature (it's under Tools>Options>Mail Setup>Send/Receive>Send automatically when connected in Outlook 2007)

      Re: Sky Outgoing POP email - Outlook 2007

      Thanks for the response.

      Fair point. I checked my 2 instances of Outlook. One had the box ticked, one didn't (the one I use to send) - I don't remember unticking it, but I am getting old.

      Anyway, we've hi-jacked the thread enough; hopefully it's given the OP something to check.

      Regards,

      Felix
