sky e-mail and smtp problem
Hello,
I wonder if anybody can shed some light on this for me.
I can receive e-mail from googlemail and sky(which uses googlemail I
think) on my samsung tocco but I have sent one from the phone,It says
it was sent, but it does not arrive.I am using vodafone uk, I am using
their SMTP of send.vodafone.net and it sends but it does not use SSL
does googlemail server need to use SSL to send this or is their any
work around ? I phoned vodafone they said they do not support SSL.
Many thanks any help gratefully received

Re: sky e-mail and smtp problem
I think you will find you need Secure TLS (Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) v2 and v3 and Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocols) for Sky and Google email. However if you use SkyUsers email server for SMTP outgoing mail you don't need SSL/TLS. I understand this method retains your Sky address in the outgoing email, and you use the normal Sky/Google server for incoming POP emails.

Re: sky e-mail and smtp problem
Probably not. I'm a Vodafone (and a Virgin mobile) phone customer and I use my own domain to send/receive emails - but I also use a Smartphone running Windows Mobile and that may effect the usability. Why not try using the alternate settings, the worst that can happen is it doesn't work!
