second user settings in outlook
We have 1 PC with two users accounts. The other night I've upgraded the PC (new mainboard, processor etc) and started setting things back up. Prior to the re-build everything was working fine and both me and the wife could log in and collect our mail via outlook 2007.
However, after the re-build, I can't get my wife's account to connect via POP. The send and receive shows the SMTP settings are OK (I get the tick in the action window), but it keeps coming up with the username and password box.
I went back to the web portal, logged in and deleted her as a user - then tried re-entering her details only to be told that "that user exists". So I created a new user using her middle initial, and made a note of the password, then used these same credential in outlook- still no joy.
Why is Sky mail so difficult to configure. Whilst Virgin was a crap provider, at least managing additional e-mail addresses was a doddle to do -
Can anyone advise why I have to create an additional user, before I can add an extra e-mail address. I don't really want to have to dothis for my 6 year old daughter !

Re: second user settings in outlook
If you have created a new user for your wife, you need to login to "email & tools" and enable pop for that account.
As for why you have to create an additional user when all you want is another email address its just the way sky do it.
You could always use another provider for the emal (google, yahoo etc) and then you dont have the hassle of changing your email if you change ISPs.

Re: second user settings in outlook
Thanks for the comment, and yes pop was enabled for that account. No matter what I set the settings to - outlook kept failing to log in, even though I could log in to the webmail via my browser. Ended up creating a new user, which worked, and then forward rule to forward all mail to the original address - it's not perfect, but works !
