      Outlook 2003 & 2007

      Hi all,

I have a client using sky email with the preferance of using a pop 3 client which he has done for years.

He recently upgraded to a new computer running Vista Home Premium, now using Outlook 2007, I have copied all his settings from the old Outlook 2003 system, but I am getting username and password promts each time it tries to collect & send (send & recieve)
However, I have tried to configured the clients laptop which is running Outlook 2003, the same of which he has on his old PC, and that causes a username and password prompt!

Now I can log into the sky email portal with his current login details, and of course, pop is enabled in his sky settings, (as a Gmail user, I am used to the interface and know how to configure it) so that suggests to me that the user credentials currently work.

I have been on sky's website on how to configure Outlook 2007,
I have been on Gmail on how to configure Outlook 2007,
I have been on skyuser on how to configure outlook 2007.

I have tried all sorts of possible solutions, but nothing seems to work, please forgive me, but am I missing something?

It appears that I can set up my own gmail using a pop3 client no problem at all, but why not a sky account?

After doing a bit of research into sky and pop collection, its quite apparent that there are many different configurations for the same pop client.

Why cant it be straight foreward like Gmail?

The only thing I can suggest is that sky is holding on to his old password which we have changed in the meantime which would explain the authentication issue.

what user name did you put in? If it's just the front end without @sky.com you can either try a password reset or your client has to ring sky.com tech support and go through to webmail for a password reset to get the servers back in synch. Sometimes using either the original account password or the old/ previous account password works on the Unlock system.

So if I phone sky, and tell them there is a synch problem with his email account, they will re align everything for me?

I think this is the best scenario, so we will know that our settings are solid!

Cheers PaulSKY, as you can imagine, I have been chasing my tail with this problem!

You won't be able to do anything with sky tech support, the customer has to call and clear DPA.

DPA? I will get the customer to call sky then and I will be passed over.

So will Sky then rectify the sync issue?

Yep but they need to clear data protection act with the account holder first, once that is done they can talk to you but webmail may want to quickly check with account holder again for security reasons when you get through to them. After that webmail will probably be able to resolve the issue quickly enough.
