Mail won't send through Outlook 2002
Hi - first time post here so hope someome can help !
I'm using Outlook 2002 with all the settings detailed both here and on the Sky support sites checked dozens of times over - ie. I am using pop.tools.sky.com port 995 and smtp.tools.sky.com port 465.
However, when I come to doing 'test account settings' in Outlook, it all works fine until it comes to sending a test message. Then I get the error message "unable to send test message - please verify the e-mail address field". I've checked it a million times and it 100% is the right address - ie. myusername@sky.com
FYI - doing a send and receive in Outlook brings up error 0X8004210B.
Any ideas ? No problems at all with incoming mail via POP3.
This all seems to have happened since I had a little play with IMAP - didn't like it so I switched back to POP3 / SMTP.
Please help !!

Re: Mail won't send through Outlook 2002
For "unable to send from Outlook" problems the usual fix is to apply the latest office service pack, however you give the impression it used to work so it may not be the fix in your case. Just in case you are not on SP3 here is a link to it.
Download details: Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)
The error you give is a time out error which would suggest either the SMTP server name is incorrect or something is blocking your access.

Re: Mail won't send through Outlook 2002
Office SP3 seems the generally accepted solution to this OL2002: You Receive 0x8004210A, 0x800CCC0B, and 0x8004210B Error Messages When You Send and Receive E-Mail Message with a POP3 E-Mail Account.
It's odd that it's the SMTP that's the problem as both IMAP and SMTP use port 25, it's only different on POP/IMAP where the ports are 110 and 134.

Re: Mail won't send through Outlook 2002
Thanks both very much indeed.
SP3 has indeed cured the problem.
As you say - odd that it was working before - but never mind. I'm a happy bunny now !
Thanks again.
