Outgoing email for multiple users
Just upgraded to a new pc and setting up new email on everyones accounts.
I am using Thunderbird and have manged to set my email up without problems.
Question is does every other family member have to have a sky.com email address in order to use the outgoing smtp server?
If so I assume that i just set up an email address in "manage additional users" and set up the pop configuration etc then I set them up in outgoing mail as their email account and password?
I have tried all this but only my outgoing mail works
Any ideas?
Cheers
John

Re: Outgoing email for multiple users
Did you log into sky.com with the new account user name (not the @sky.com bit on end) and then go to email and tools, mail settings, POP and forwarding and enable the account? If not it won't work until you log in with it.

Re: Outgoing email for multiple users
Yes have done all that
Get the message on my account now too:-
"Sending Password did not succeed. Mail server pop.tools.sky.com responded Username and password not accepted."
I have even re-set my password and i can log onto the Sky mail portal. IS the fact that this is a brand new PC of any significance, Do I have to run the broadband setup disk for any reason
Thanks

Re: Outgoing email for multiple users
No you do not need to run the broadband setup disk for anything other than to install McAfee.
You could try www.sky.com/unlock on the accounts that don't work. (no @sky.com on the username)

Re: Outgoing email for multiple users
Close thunderbird first before running unlock, if that fails or throws an error post it back in here and we will try to work out whats wrong.

Re: Outgoing email for multiple users
Tried that and it responds :Username and password do not match
All a bit odd as i can log into sky, and sky mobile and even get my sky email online. But no matter what I do, tried re-setting password and changed to IMAP for incomming mail, I get nowhere
Cheers
Are there tow separate passwords? One for sky.com and one for sky email? I suspect there are and that they are out of sync.

Re: Outgoing email for multiple users
Yes there are two separate passwords and others have reported them getting out of sync before.
Usually going through the "forgotten password" routine and changing them to something else then back again can get them in step. Don't forget that each separate account has its own username/password combination.
Your original post queried using the SMTP server, so do the other family members already have email address they want to use. If so using the SKY SMTP server is not a good idea as it will add the sky address to all their emails.
If they do have other email address's they want to use see this post for an alternative SMTP server.

Re: Outgoing email for multiple users
You can't, the system should automatically update google when you change the password on Sky but it doesn't always seem to happen.
