Helping set up a new user, please!

      Hi,

After an awful lot of time on the phone to Sky I have now set up my email account through Sky onto Windows Mail.

I am now trying to set up an acc for my wife again on Windows Mail.

The email address looks to have been set up via an additional user on Sky. I have set it up via Windows Mail & whilst I can see what emails have been sent from the sent box, I am not receiving any email into the account.

      1. How can i check what emails are sent/received via Sky mail?
      2. What am I doing wrong by not being able to see what emails are being received through Windows Mail?

In the Properties, Servers tab, what Incoming Mail Server name do I use? Sky is registered to me, so do I put my email address & pword, even though the email is for my wife?

I am pretty sure all my other settings are OK.

      Thx

have you logged into your Wife's account online and enabled POP? you need to access it first via the site to get the account activated...

with regards to the settings, you use everything that was set up for the account, it's a seperate entity in it's own right so the username is yourwife@sky.com, password is her password, servers are pop.tools.sky.com/smtp.tools.sky.com, etc...

Re: Helping up new user, please!

you have to log into the account online, like you did with your original account, to go into the options and enable POP...

      1. Log into your Sky Email account.
      2. Click Mail Settings at the top of any Sky Email page.
      3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab in the orange Mail Settings box.
      4. Depending on the protocol you have decided upon, select either Enable POP or Enable IMAP.
      5. Click Save Changes.

      Then configure Windows Mail again...

      1. Open Windows Mail - the wizard will pop up if it's your first time using it; if not, simply click Tools, Accounts followed by Add.
      2. Enter your name.
      3. Enter your complete Sky Email address.
Enter the following information in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: field:
      POP3 - pop.tools.sky.com
      IMAP - imap.tools.sky.com

      4. Enter the following information in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.tools.sky.com
      5. Tick Outgoing server requires authentication.
      6. Enter your full Sky Email address and password.
      7. Click through (the tick box is optional), then click Finish.
      8. Select Tools, Accounts followed by either POP3 account or IMAP account depending on which server type you chose at step 4.
      9. Select Properties followed by Advanced.
      10. Enter given port numbers as detailed below:
Incoming server must be either 995 for POP3 or 993 for IMAP and must use SSL encryption.
Outgoing server can use 465, SSL encryption.

      11. Tick both secure connection boxes and click Apply.
      12. Click Close.

you set up a new account in Windows Mail, none of it relates to your account at all as it's completely seperate from yours...follow each step for only your wife's email account...

Sorry if I've missed the point, but have you actually created an account for your wife?

You do it through "my sky" "manage additional users".

This Link should take you there.

After that setting up her email is just the same as you did yours.

Re: Helping up new user, please!

sounds like it's not a 'proper' additional user...log into MySky, and down the left will be an option for 'manage additional users'. if there is an entry for your wife then it should be working as normal, if not then create the new user and fill in the required fields...
